The Chess Mentor Has Returned!

I don't know what was up with the restructuring of Aficianado, but, more importantly, Chess Mentor is back. This is, perhaps, my most favorite chess software, and I'm so glad to see it back on the market. Truly a good product (and I'm not paid to endorse it)! I notice that it no longer lists the company as Aficianado, Inc., but merely Chess Mentor. I'm wondering if that means Art Wang (who I believe originated the software) sold it to a 3rd party.

Awesome. Thanks for the tip CD. I've been wondering what happened to them. I didn't delete their bookmark from my Firefox in hope of thier return.

Darn. I just noticed something. They redesigned the pacakges too. Do you remember what modules were included with the Comprehensive Course? They don't sell the supplements on their new site so I'll have to go dig up the few remaining copies if I want to study something in particular. Thanks.

You might go to ChessUSA.com and check out what they've still got in inventory. That's where I bought all my CM stuff. I just went through and handpicked which supplementary courses I wanted, knowing where my chess shortcomings are.

Does that mean all of their supplementary courses are NOT included in the comprehensive course? I just want to make sure I don't buy something I don't already have. BTW, which supplements did you enjoy the most? Thanks.

No, it looks like now they DO include all supplementary courses in the comprehensive course (and raised the price accordingly). However, if you want select supplementary courses, you'll probably have to check someplace like ChessUSA for them.

I looked again at that, and it looks like I was wrong about the comprehensive course having all the supplementary courses. They have the deluxe version with all the supps in it. The comprehensive comes with 4 of the supplementary courses for the same price as the old version that had no supplmentary courses. That one is a bargain. However, it is annoying that you can no longer purchase the individual supplementary courses there. I would still suggest trying ChessUSA for individual courses. That's what I did. Note, too, that version 3 supplementary courses are backwards compatible with version 2 Chess Mentor.
