good job! that's a good rating!
Congratulations on the promotion
keep up the good work!
Congratulations! You are on the top of the bell curve now. How many USCF members have you left behind you last year?:)
Thanks, everyone! BDK, maybe I should see if FICS will allow me to change my handle...? :p
Thanks, Jens! I'll keep plugging away toward that Class A goal, but I know I have a lot of work on my endgame before that will happen. Let's see how it shakes out and where I hit that next plateau!
Congratulations. It's great to see the circles paying off for one of the gang :).
King, I'd say the key is to first get done with the tactics. Draw a line in the sand. Don't keep going with tactics to the exclusion of the other parts of the game, but do definitely get through the tactics circles. Next, work on the other parts of the game. I think the most important parts of the game at our level is tactics, strategy, and endgames. Secondary would be openings. Keep hammering at the big 3 and the result is improvement.
That's wonderful news CD! I've been rooting for you since the beginning and it's great to see all your hard work and effort paying off. Here's to your future progress.
PS
Great work! Huzzah! I agree with CD... finish the circles at all cost. Then Strategy, then Endgame, then opening.
During my circle training, I continued to play regularly at the club ( MDLM as well as others makes reference to the importance of regular OTB training too) and about once a month at a tournament. 90% of the study time was devoted to completing circles. Then, on the weekends I would add some strategy 2.0 and/or solataire chess. The day before an event or the club, I would review my openings and some R+P endgames. After the game I would contrast my game with the opening lines and see where I went astray.
