Only 2,223 Problems Left Before Graduation

Another night of staying up until 3:00a. I completed 24 problems this morning and have 221 left to go tonight. It was VERY hard to get going this morning after a 3rd day in a row of getting only 3-4 hours of sleep. I'll at least be able to sleep in Saturday, so I can recover somewhat before the final push on Sunday.

Were you up that late doing problems?!?

Get some sleep, man. Chess work takes time.

I wonder how many marriages have ended because of chess?

I watched the Luzhin Defense last night: good chess plot, but the interpersonal plot was kind of cheesy and unbelievable. SPOILER WARNING For instance, they never really got into why Luzhin's old teacher wanted him to lose so badly, why he was such a jerkhole. Anyway, my point wrt marriage is in that case, the wedding never even happened because of chess! That is probably much more common. The non-chess partner thinks, "Hmm, do I really want to play second fiddle to a meaningless board game?"

Christopher, it's my last week of the De La Maza program, so I have to devote that much time just to complete the number of puzzles required. Unfortunately, I have no other option.

Blue Devil, fortunately my wife has abided my love of chess all these years. However, I have been more dedicated to it than ever the past year or so....

Hey Blue Devil. The teacher wanted him to lose because he didn't want a pupil to be successful without him. Basically he didn't want people to say "Oh, it was his teacher that was holding him back from being a World Champion." His reputation was on the line.
